Countryside getaway …

So we just got back from a weekend away in the countryside, and honestly we didn’t want to leave! We stayed in a beautiful stately house tucked away in hundred of acres of lush green and open blue skies. This trip was a spiritual retreat organised by a Muslim organisation. The programme included lectures, workshops and activities such as archery and swimming. Honestly, it was so nice to get away from city life, breathe fresh air and reflect. Being in such a simple environment is perfect for appreciating all the luxuries we have and how fortunate we are. We truly are blessed, and sometimes it takes that time out for us to appreciate all that we enjoy on a daily basis.

We really benefited from the spiritual talks and we felt such a boost of faith on leaving the retreat. One of the main themes of the lectures was the importance of sending praise upon the prophet Muhammad peace be upon Him. The female lecturer challenged us to see how many openings we would receive simply by uttering, Oh God send blessings upon Muhammad (Allahumma Salli Ala Muhammad/ اللّهُمّ صَلّ عَلَى مُحَمّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمّدٍ).

The English countryside is truly breathtaking and second to none. As kid we used to go on plenty of family trips to Wales and it was also so fun, pretending to fish, enjoying barbecues, and running around the woods. With studies and work taking over we haven’t been in years, so to combine this trip with spiritual knowledge was ideal.

I’m not sure if any of you guys have been to one of these, but there are a number of countryside holidays available. Guests stay in huge stately homes turned hotels, and enjoy activities, or wind-down in the spa all weekend. We really want to head to one of these, so let us know your recommendations, and we shall keep you posted!
